Case Analysis: Phase 2 Methodology

In research, the methodology describes the rationale for the application of specific assessment tools, procedures or techniques used to identify, select, and analyze information and serves to answer two primary questions: How was the data collected or generated? And, how was it analyzed?
This phase of the Case Analysis should thoroughly detail the process by which you will carry out your research, to include the physiological and/or cognitive ergonomic assessment tool(s) selected to perform the ergonomic assessment of the system described in Phase 1. I will attach the Phase 1 assignment that you completed. Not all ergonomic tools will fit perfectly, and you may find you need to apply multiple tools and/or adapt tools to better fit the system under analysis. Justify why these tools were selected and any adaptations you have or will make to carry out the analysis.
Select and justify, from a list of accepted analytic tools, which tools are most appropriate for the workplace and assessment needs, and describe, if applicable, any modifications you made to suit the identified system. Explain the methodology by which you conducted your research; this includes how you will collect and analyze the data. You are free to do a physical ergonomic assessment, a cognitive ergonomic assessment (i.e. NASA Task Load Index [TLX] or Cognitive Load Theory [CLT]), or both.
There is a tool for every scenario –
• Lifting Ex. NIOSH Lifting Equation
• Full body-Ex. REBA
• Upper limb assessment –Ex. RULA
• Workplace ergonomic risk assessment –Ex. WERA
Assessment tools are in abundance but can also be
designed specifically for individual workplaces or tasks. Existing ergonomic assessment tools can also be
adapted to better fit a workplace
