ANSWER TO THIS TOPIC:
Cancel culture has been something that has grown recently as marginalized groups are making their voice be heard, causing many to rethink what has always been done. ‘Digital cultures’ scholar Norris (2021) suggests: “The concept of a ‘cancel culture’ can be defined broadly as attempts to ostracize someone for violating social norms…” “(as cited in Lokhande & Natu, 2022, p. 253).
We want to be sensitive to those who feel marginalized, but we don’t want to, in turn, marginalize another group of people. For instance, some may feel more comfortable with gender neutral bathrooms, while this may cause another person to feel uncomfortable and anxious.
Accommodating the needs of everyone is impossible, but how would you handle a situation where the solution negatively impacted a different set of people?
